What we don’t know CAN hurt us. Axton Betz-Hamilton didn’t know who her mother really was when she and her dad weren’t looking. Years of financial struggles brought on by identity theft taught her that a person can get away with a lot if no one is watching. They may even cause the people they say they love the most enormous amounts of pain, if it gets them what they want.

Every year in the United States, over 600,000 people go missing according to the website namus.gov. Most are found very quickly, but tens of thousands will remain missing for a year or more. “The sheer volume of missing and unidentified person cases poses one of the greatest challenges to agencies tasked with resolving these important cases.” This is the story of two of those people, missing now for over 31 years.

When a real-life vigilante takes down the town bully, was that man a hero - or a criminal just like the man he killed? If the criminal justice system can’t deal with a man who has dozens of felony arrests, should citizens take matters into their own hands, and impose the harshest sentence of all? Join my fascinating discussion with my special guest Aaron Hanbury.

A community and family are rocked by the deaths of three young siblings in what the children’s mother claims was a horrible accident. If that was the case, family members wondered why her boyfriend told her they needed to “get their stories straight.” Trials were held and verdicts were rendered, but was justice done?

Many cases that are officially listed as unsolved still have a suspect that is assumed to be responsible, but for one reason or another cannot or will not be prosecuted. Jane Mixer was long assumed to be a victim of serial killer John Norman Collins – the infamous Michigan Murderer of the late 1960’s. In 2004, her family received the shocking news that there had been a DNA hit on evidence from Jane’s case. But the match was not to John Norman Collins.
Warning – this book has graphic sections and may not be suitable for all readers. The podcast does not mention the more difficult parts of the narrative.
